Energy-Saving Low-Mass Kiln Furniture Now Available From Blasch

            ALBANY, NY (6/3/2008) – A new line of energy-saving low-mass kiln furniture is now available from Blasch Precision Ceramics.

The Blasch low-mass kiln furniture is made of silicon carbide, available in two formulations: reaction bonded and recrystallized. Blasch’s reaction bonded material (SiSiC), suitable for applications up to 1380°C, offers excellent resistance to wear, chemical attack, oxidation, and thermal shock, and very high thermal conductivity. Blasch’s recrystallized silicon carbide (RSiC) offers very high strength, and excellent resistance to thermal shock, oxidation, and abrasion for applications up to 1610° C. 

            Silicon carbide offers a number of advantages over conventional kiln furniture, including higher maximum operating temperature, greater strength, much higher thermal conductivity, excellent thermal shock resistance, and lower distortion and cracking.

As a result, Blasch low-mass kiln furniture delivers key benefits for kiln operators: energy savings when firing the kiln, increased productivity because low-mass kiln furniture allows more space for product within the kiln, and a longer life cycle and greater ROI from the kiln furniture.
