Thermal Storage Media

Thermal storage ceramic balls are engineered for use as packing media in regenerative thermal storage systems, including air separation units, where they function as a high-efficiency heat exchange medium. Primary material content is alumina.

In parallel, inert ceramic support media are widely utilized in synthesis gas (syngas) processing applications to provide mechanical support and optimized flow distribution within catalyst beds. These support balls are available in standard diameters ranging from 3 mm to 100 mm, with custom sizes manufactured to meet specific process and equipment requirements.

Primary Applications:

Thermal Power Storage

Renewable energy developers seeking to store solar-derived thermal energy can leverage the high specific heat capacity of alumina-based media. When configured in engineered packed-bed systems, alumina’s thermal mass enables efficient heat retention and energy storage, facilitating dispatch during off-peak periods or when solar input is unavailable

Steel Blast Furnaces

In various steel mills and rolling operations worldwide, blast furnaces widely deploy thermal storage packing in regenerative heat accumulators for air separation units. The incorporation of thermal storage media (e.g., ceramic balls) within regenerative systems enables preheating of both combustion air and fuel gas, allowing the furnace to rapidly achieve the target flame temperature required for billet reheating

Secondary Reforming

BB99 high-alumina support media is composed of ≥99% alpha-phase alumina (α-Al₂O₃) with low silica (SiO₂). The high alumina purity and ultra-low silica content make it well suited for high-temperature, high–steam partial pressure environments. It is particularly effective in secondary reformers in ammonia synthesis service, where minimizing silica leaching is critical to prevent downstream deposition and catalyst bed fouling.
